FOOTBALL UNDER COVER

Cinema Documentary | DE (2008) | 86min

Tehran in April 2006: The first official friendly match between the Iranian women’s national football team and a female team from Berlin takes place in front of more than 1000 cheering women. In the stands there is singing and dancing, a concentrated load of female power hovers above the stadium.

Outside the gates are a couple of men trying to catch a glimpse through fence. Entry is prohibited for them today. Before this event lie years of hard work for the young women of the two teams. But in the end after overcoming numerous obstacles the game is actually played. And these 90 minutes are more than a soccer game. Here the desire for self-determination and justice is discharged and it becomes clear:

Change is possible.
