For over three years, Stefanie Brockhaus and I repeatedly visited Azza in Saudi Arabia and the result was this wonderful film about a woman whose unbridled desire for justice and autonomy repeatedly pushes her to her limits in a very conservative world.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m also a little proud and really happy that the new film I shot last summer with Gerd Kroske (Drawing a Line, SPK Complex) will have its premiere at this year’s BERLINALE<\/strong> at the FORUM section! The film is about female industrial workers from the former GDR and their self-image, their struggle to work in male-dominated areas and the disillusionment they experienced as a result of the changes brought about by reunification.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shooting at times of Corona can be beautiful. This month we recorded a Sarabande by Johann Sebastian Bach in compliance with the contact restrictions in the empty St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.<\/span> It was great to interrupt the compulsory break for a moment, meet with friends and bring together our skills.
